應信息與電子學院邀請，新加坡南洋理工大學Weisi LIN副教授于2012年6月13日下午在北京理工大學4號教學樓233室開展了“21世紀學科前沿”學術交流活動，作了題為“Perceptual Visual Quality Metrics: Fundamentals, Issues an d Recent Developments”的學術報告。報告會由信息與電子學院院長龍騰教授主持，信息與電子學院30多位教師和學生參加了此次報告會。

　　報告中，LIN教授首先介紹了主要討論了圖像質量評價的重要性，并深入分析了當前圖像質量評價體系（例如MSE、SNR、PSNR、QoS等）與人類真實的視覺感受存在著很大的差異。以全新的角度從圖像結構、顏色對比、掩膜影響、視覺飽和影響和視覺關注五個方面深入探討了人類的視覺特點與圖像質量評價的關系，為圖像處理時對圖像進行不同類型或不同情況下進行差異化處理，使得計算資源得到更合理的分配。最后，Lin Weisi副教授與信息與電子學院的老師和同學們就報告內容進行了熱烈的交流和討論。

　　報告會后，趙保軍課題組的孫景樂博士介紹了離散圓簇算法的原理和在復雜地物情況下的特征提取和應用問題；吳京輝博士做了ELM學習的機理和訓練問題；蔡雨辰博士做了將離散圓簇用于SAR圖像去噪的問題；彭州博士做了自適應重疊變換壓縮的報告。另外趙保軍教授陪同林教授參觀了實驗室和觀看相關演示，并進行了深入交流。

　　此次交流使廣大師生開闊了視野，受益匪淺，并對今后圖像/視頻處理領域的研究提供了很大幫助。

　　Biography: Dr. Weisi Lin graduated from Zhongshan University, China with B.Sc an d M.Sc, an d from King’s College, London University, UK with Ph.D. He served as the Lab Head an d Acting Department Manager in Institute for Infocomm Research (Singapore). He is now an Associate Professor in School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.He is a senior member of IEEE, a Chartered Engineer, a fellow of the IET an d an Honorary Fellow of Singapore Institute of Engineering Technologists. His areas of expertise include perception-inspired signal modeling, perceptual multimedia quality evaluation, video compression, an d image processing an d analysis; in these areas he has published 190+ refereed journal an d conference papers, an d been the Principal Investigator of more than 10 major projects (with both academic an d industrial funding ofoverS$4m). He currently serves as the Associate Editor for IEEE Trans on Multimedia, IEEE Signal Processing Letters an d Journal of Visual Communication an d Image Representation. He is the Lead Guest Editor for the recent special issue on New Subjective an d Objective Methodologies for Audio an d Visual Signal Processing in IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing.
